WE ARE ASKING OR THE CITY VOTE TO BE DEFERRED UNTIL JULY, WE WILL SHARE DETAILS AS SOON AS WE GET THEM.
Dear Milton friends and neighbors,
The Farm at Pamelot, home to The Painted Horse Winery & Vineyards, desperately needs your help! We’ve been here in North Fulton operating our farm, providing equestrian services, summer camps, wedding, corporate and other special events, for more than 25 years. The farm is our home—we’ve literally been operating before Milton ever became a city in 2006. Despite that, the City of Milton is now telling us that we need to apply for special use permits to continue operating the same way we’ve been operating all these years.
On June 7, the Milton City Council will vote on three different permit applications:
1) a permit that essentially covers our children’s activities like birthday parties;
2) a permit that is supposed to cover our more adult-type functions such as weddings, corporate, and other special group events; and
3) a permit for the ticketed outdoor music series, Uncorked, hosted on the farm monthly between November 2020 and December 2021.
We don’t believe we need these permits since our operations pre-date the city, but in an effort to be good citizens and responsible neighbors, we’ve made application with assistance from an experienced land use and zoning attorney. We really thought these applications would be a formality, but now we have a very small handful of neighbors who are voicing opposition to what we’ve done for years, creating confusion about the permits and conditions, and sharing misinformation about the Farm’s operations. It is important to share that the Farm has the unwavering support of 8 of our neighbors who own property immediately adjacent to the farm, and more than 1,000 hand-written Milton signatures on a support petition.
This is a start—but it’s not enough to help us prevail on June 7.
If you are a Milton resident, we need you to reach out to the Milton City Council and show your support in writing before the public hearing and vote on June 7. (We will take any and all emails of support, but Milton residents definitely carry more weight with local officials during a vote.)
To make it easy for you, we’re including the Mayor and Council emails below or you can email the Mayor and Council via the Milton City Clerk at email@example.com, asking “please enter my email into the official record on June 7.” Just a quick email asking them to vote YES on the use permit applications for the Farm at Pamelot, providing your Milton address, and telling them why you support the farm would be greatly appreciated!
Even better, join us at City Hall on June 7 at 6:00 p.m. to share your support for the farm in-person!
On behalf of my entire family and our 26 farm employees, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your patronage all these years and for your continued support during this difficult time!
